Chinese New Year – {Film Fridays}

One thing I really want to do this year (that is almost half over – holy cow it’s almost JUNE!) is shoot more film.  I attended an awesome workshop this past January (which I will post about another time) that was all about shooting film, so before my baby came I was eager to get out and experiment.  My family and I went to Chinatown in downtown L.A. the weekend of Chinese New Year and watched the parade and I got to play with my new Mamiya, some Kodak Portra 400 and some Ektar 100.  Ektar is known for it’s super vivid color and on this bright sunny day it was perfect for capturing some moments from the parade!

Tony, Kristen & Will – {Venice Family Photographer}

Tony and Kristen are two of my husband’s and my very best friends.  Their little boy Will (who you may remember from his newborn session), is the cutest guy with big soulful eyes and eyelashes for days.

We did a quick mini session in the Venice canals late last November on an overcast afternoon.  Will is a little dude on the go who wanted to show off his walking skills, and between him running every which way and the crowds of tourists stomping through our shots (seriously – never doing a session in the canals on a weekend EVER again), we were working our butts off!

We got some awesome shots.  My very favorites are the ones (of course) of Tony and Kristen snuggling their little boy.  This was also the first time that I developed a whole session in black and white (had been wanting to do that for a long time!) and I adore it.  I love seeing my friends as parents, loving on their son, seeing their faces light up when he smiles.  The best:)

Welcome Eve – {Pasadena Newborn Photography}

I met beautiful baby Eve and her wonderful family last fall.  Her big brother Edwin was just the sweetest guy, with the biggest smile and best giggle:) Eve wasn’t really feelings like sleeping and much preferred cuddles from mom, but we did manage to get some beautiful photos of this gorgeous baby girl.  I just love her dark hair, big dark eyes and perfect little lips!

Deeba and Peter – {Santa Monica Maternity Photographer}

I met Deeba and Peter on my favorite beach in Malibu for a mini maternity session just as the sun was setting last November.  Deeba was absolutely glowing, totally goddess-like.  I love the way Peter made her smile, how happy they were together, how excited they were for their baby boy to arrive.

Thank you both for sharing such a special time with me!

Sarah, Greg, Jessica & Gianna – {Westlake Village Family Photographer}

This is my very favorite session from last fall, and it is the last one I did before going on maternity leave.  I love it, not only because I love the images, but because I adore the people in them.  I have known Sarah and her family for years.  She has been my most loyal client, and also someone who has believed in my photography from the beginning.  I have watched her girls grow up before my eyes, have seen Jessica get more and more beautiful and Gianna look more and more like her gorgeous mother.  The love this family has for each other is obvious, and I have never seen two sisters adore each other so much.  I hope that my girls are as connected as Jessica and Gianna as they get older!

Thanks again, Sarah and Greg.  Can’t wait to see you next year:)
