Kim, Nathan, Avery, Eric and Annie – {Bay Area Family Photographer}

Kim and I went to high school together and I was really thrilled to get to see her again this past fall to photograph her beautiful family!  It was over the Thanksgiving holiday, when I was in the Bay Area visiting my family.  Kim lives on the coast and I had a great idea in mind.  Last spring I had attended a Wallflower Friends workshop in Moss Beach, and the inn where we stayed was right next to this incredible grove of trees.

Kim’s kids were the easiest kids to photograph I have ever met.  I  pointed the camera at them and they just started laughing.  They were also so happy to cuddle together, to be affectionate and show their love to one another.  Just the best:)

Also, as a special treat at the end the kids had brought their Halloween costumes.  They had all been Star Wars characters and wanted to get an awesome picture of all of them dressed up.  I LOVE this shot, and so does Kim.  She wrote me after she viewed her gallery: ”I adore the Star Wars picture. It commemorates such a happy time in their sibling-hood. I know Avery is heading into the “tween” stage so the time with them playing together as three musketeers is running out – you have no idea how happy I am. I can’t thank you enough.”

And that is what it is all about for me.  Capturing moments and memories for a family to treasure forever.

Welcome Layla! – {Sherman Oaks Newborn Photographer}

Oh my, I love this session.  Not only is little Layla amazingly adorable, but the family photos just melt me.

Her mama, Haley, actually teared up when I was photographing her with her daughter.  I had asked her to just hold Layla and look at her, and as she gazed at her baby and talked to her, she was overwhelmed with love for this brand new little person in her arms.  It made me a little teary too, since at the time I was just about four and a half months pregnant with our second daughter and was imagining myself holding a baby girl soon:)

I love when a family can forget that there is a camera pointed at them and just enjoy each other and savor the moment.  Jayson and Haley were amazing together as they held their baby girl, and I really feel like we were able to capture the joy, wonder and love they have for each other.

Luana and Alex – {Los Angeles Couples Photographer}

I met Luana through the Operation:Love Reunited program last summer and was thrilled to get to meet her husband Alex when he came home from deployment in the fall.  We met on my favorite beach at sunset and had an amazing time.  These two are so in love and so much fun together.  They were so comfortable and natural with each other, and lucky for me I got to capture it:) And of course they brought their beloved dog, Ally.  Welcome home Alex!

Welcome Home, Ricardo! – {Operation: Love Reunited}

I love Operation:Love Reunited.  It is such an amazing organization, and I have met the most wonderful people through it.  I did a session with Patty and Sofia when Ricardo was deployed overseas.  Unfortunately I wasn’t available to capture his homecoming, like I did with this family.  So I offered their family a session a couple of months later to celebrate being together again.  It was wonderful to meet Ricardo, to get to thank him for his service, and to see Patty and Sofia again.

I think it is plain to see how happy this family is to be reunited, and how very much they love each other.

Noah is Six Months! – {San Fernando Valley Baby Photographer}

The last time I saw Noah, he was an itty bitty little three week old baby, and this time he was an adorable smiley six month old with the most awesome baby chub:) Poor guy was having a bit of an off day because of teething so this session was a lot about figuring out what would distract him and keep him happy.  We tried different toys, singing, everything.  I think it was his dad that suggested that we try taking his clothes off, and that did the trick!  After we freed him from the sweater and jeans, he was all smiles and ready to play with his orange truck.  Naked babies are the best anyway, am I right?;)
