I was thrilled when N&C contacted me when they were expecting their second precious baby. I had photographed their son a couple of years ago when he was only four days old and had a wonderful time with them. They adore each other and their babies, and are very comfortable showing that love (which makes my job way easy!).

I came to their home to meet baby G and she was perfect, just like her big brother was. I just love how peaceful and intimate these images are, they are wonderful memories for a wonderful family.

It is so hot in Los Angeles right now. Like, I’m melting it’s so hot. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and the hottest I can ever remember it getting was around 80 degrees, none of this 100+ shenanigans that we have here in So Cal.

I love summer, but summer in L.A. (especially in the Valley where I live) poses a couple of particular problems for some photographers, particularly those of us who typically do family sessions outdoors. Maybe I’m just a delicate flower but I HATE being too hot, and no one is happy and relaxed when it feels like you are walking into an oven. Also? Sweaty, red faces not so great for photos. Second, I love sunset light, that glowing, golden light and soft shadows that appear in the last hour or so before sunset. In the summertime, sunset is at 8pm, and for a lot of kiddos that is too late (or maybe that’s just my kids!).

For a long time I’ve thought that I would love to find a way to still take natural, relaxed photos indoors, and not just in the summer. A couple of months ago, just out of curiosity, I bought a plain black backdrop and a backdrop stand, set it up next to a window, paid my daughter a dollar to pose for me (that’s the only way she will indulge me these days!), and got this:

Introducing – The Simple Session.

The Simple Session is a 15 minute session in a natural light studio setting, focusing on your child and your child only: their eyes, their freckles, their smile. Timeless, classic portraits that are still relaxed and natural.

The first day I am offering The Simple Session is Saturday, August 19 at a studio location in North Hollywood.

To reserve your child’s session, the fee is $49.95. This fee is per family (not per child) and I can photograph up to three children in this time slot.

All prints and digital files are purchased separately after you have viewed your gallery. Digital collections start at $95. Print collections start at $25.
